A concert sure to warm the heart. We start with MacCunn's The Land of the Mountain and the Flood an enthusiastic concert overture based on scottish poet Walter Scott's "The Lay of the Last Minstrel". Continuing on our tour of the highlands we get swept into Bruch's Scottish Fantasy, Op. 46, based on scottish folk tunes, some of which are known with lyrics by Robert Burns. Finally, we join Dvorak with Symphony No. 4, Op. 16 B. 41, a thematic romantic symphony with many references to Tannhouser, Meistersingers and many Brahms' works.
